Design systems

One source of truth for design and development — consistency at scale, faster shipping, and brand integrity across every product and platform.

Inconsistency is costing you more than you think

As products grow, so does the chaos. Designers recreate existing components, developers build the same button six different ways, and new features ship with inconsistent spacing and patterns.

A design system stops this — giving your team a shared language of reusable components and guidelines that everyone builds from confidently, resulting in a product that ships faster and scales without breaking.

Built to be owned by your team

Too many design systems are built for the agency that created them — complex and impossible to maintain once they leave. We build systems designed for the people who will own them.

Clear documentation, practical naming conventions, and a Figma library mapped cleanly to your codebase. We don't just hand over files — we transfer knowledge, establish governance, and set your team up to evolve it confidently.

Foundations

Foundation

The core layer every component and pattern builds on.

  • Design tokens (colour, spacing, type, elevation)
  • Typography scale and hierarchy
  • Colour system and theming
  • Grid and layout principles
Components

Components

Reusable building blocks your team can trust.

  • Full Figma component library
  • Variant states and interaction specs
  • Accessible components (WCAG 2.1 AA)
  • Responsive behaviour documentation
Documentation

Patterns & documentation

Guidelines that answer the questions teams will actually ask.

  • UI pattern library
  • Usage guidelines and do/don't rules
  • Handoff annotations
  • Contribution and governance guide
Multi-brand

Multi-brand support

One system that powers multiple products or brands.

  • Token-based theming architecture
  • Brand-specific overrides
  • White-label and sub-brand support

What you gain

The compounding value of a mature design system

Ship faster

Stop rebuilding components from scratch — assemble new screens in hours, not days.

Perfect consistency

Every screen, every feature, every platform — one brand experience, no exceptions.

Design-dev alignment

Tokens and components that map to code — no more lost-in-translation handoffs.

Scale without chaos

Bring new designers and developers up to speed instantly — the system is the onboarding.

Design systems FAQs

Does my product actually need a design system?

If your product has more than a handful of screens and more than one person contributing to design or development, the answer is almost always yes. Without a system, inconsistency compounds over time — and fixing it later costs far more than building it right from the beginning.

Can you build a design system for an existing product?

Yes — and this is one of the most common engagements we take on. We audit your existing UI, identify the patterns that are already there (often implicitly), and formalise them into a structured, documented system. We handle the complexity of retrofitting without requiring a full redesign.

What tools do you use?

We design all systems in Figma, using auto-layout, variables, and component properties to create libraries that are production-ready. We document design tokens in a format that works with common front-end frameworks including React, Vue, and standard CSS custom properties.

How long does it take to build a design system?

A foundational system — tokens, core components, and documentation — typically takes 6–10 weeks. More comprehensive systems covering a large component set, multiple brands, and detailed pattern guidelines can run 3–4 months. We scope carefully upfront to match what your team actually needs, not what looks impressive on paper.

Build once. Ship everywhere. Stay consistent.

A great design system is one of the highest-leverage investments a product team can make. Let's build yours the right way.
